Il video di Obama che smista i regali di Natale

Ne ha approfittato per sovvertire gli stereotipi di genere, regalando alle bambine palle da basket e scatole per gli attrezzi

A inizio dicembre il presidente degli Stati Uniti Barack Obama ha partecipato insieme alla moglie Michelle all’annuale raccolta di giocattoli della fondazione Toys for Tots, che per le feste li distribuisce ai bambini più poveri in tutti gli Stati Uniti. Gli Obama dovevano smistare i giocattoli in scatoloni destinati rispettivamente alle bambine e ai bambini e hanno approfittato dell’occasione per scherzare e ribaltare gli stereotipi di genere: Obama per esempio ha infilato il videogioco di Call of Duty – solitamente regalato ai maschi – nello scatolone destinato alle femmine, insieme a un pallone da basket («Sapete che vi dico? Voglio essere certo che alcune ragazze giochino con qualche tipo di palla») e a una scatola con gli attrezzi («Perché, alle ragazze non piacciono?»).

Non è l’unica occasione recente in cui Obama si è occupato dei diritti delle donne: venerdì 19 dicembre durante la consueta conferenza stampa di fine anno ha accettato solo le domande di giornaliste donne, per sottolineare come siano in molte a ricoprire un ruolo, quello del corrispondente alla Casa Bianca, considerato a lungo prevalentemente maschile.
