Soprattutto in Pennsylvania, e potrebbe nevicare ancora

Nella notte tra domenica e lunedì, una intensa tempesta ha fatto cadere diversi centimetri di neve nel nord-est degli Stati Uniti. La nevicata è stata più forte in Pennsylvania e nello Stato di New York, dove circa 50mila persone sono rimaste senza energia elettrica per diverse ore a causa del brutto tempo. Le condizioni non sono migliorate nelle prime ore della mattinata e potrebbero esserci altre nevicate, come ha segnalato il Servizio meteorologico nazionale dando l’allerta anche per le aree più elevate in West Virginia e in parte del Maryland. La tempesta di neve è stata accompagnata da venti molto forti, che nella zona di New York City hanno quasi raggiunto i 90 chilometri orari. A Newfield, zona occidentale dello Stato di New York, sono caduti 25 centimetri di neve. Eventi simili sono rari in questa stagione, ma i registri meteorologici di diverse città testimoniano che già in passato si sono verificate nevicate di questa portata tra aprile e maggio.
