Il bacio vero

La discussa campagna di Benetton è la citazione di un bacio celebre e vero: quello tra Breznev e Honecker del 1979

La discussa campagna pubblicitaria di Benetton con le foto dei capi di Stato e dei leader religiosi che si baciano sulla bocca è stata subito associata a quella che nel 1991 firmò per la stessa azienda Oliviero Toscani, dove a baciarsi erano una giovane suora e un giovane prete. In effetti la campagna ricorda molto lo stile delle campagne di Toscani ma è di fatto una citazione di un’altra foto, quella del celebre bacio fra Leonid Breznev ed Erich Honecker del 1979.

Breznev e Honecker erano all’epoca rispettivamente presidente dell’Unione Sovietica e della Germania dell’Est. Il bacio in quel caso era stato vero, secondo l’usanza russa, e l’immagine divenne presto una delle più fortemente simboliche della Guerra fredda, soprattutto dopo che l’artista russo Dmitry Vrubel ne dipinse una copia sulla parte est del Muro di Berlino con la scritta: «Dio mio, aiutami a sopravvivere a questo bacio della morte».
