Hanno pregato insieme nella cappella del monastero in cui si ritirerà Benedetto XVI, che non tornava da più di due mesi

Giovedì 2 maggio papa emerito Benedetto XVI è tornato a Città del Vaticano dopo due mesi di assenza, da quando il 28 febbraio alle 16:30 venne portato in elicottero a Castel Gandolfo, dov’è rimasto finora. Quello stesso giorno alle 20 cessò ufficialmente di essere papa, come aveva annunciato dando le dimissioni l’11 febbraio.

Ratzinger è rientrato in Vaticano in elicottero poco prima delle 17 ed è stato accolto da papa Francesco davanti al monastero Mater Ecclesiae, dove Benedetto XVI ha deciso di ritirarsi. I due sono entrati nella cappella del monastero e hanno pregato insieme, come avevano già fatto durante la visita di papa Francesco a Ratzinger a Castel Gandolfo.
