I New York Giants hanno vinto la finale del football americano, il Super Bowl, battendo a Indianapolis, in Indiana, i New England Patriots per 21 a 17. Il quarterback dei Giants Eli Manning è stato giudicato miglior giocatore della partita, battendo il rivale Tom Brady, quarterback dei Patriots e uno dei migliori interpreti del ruolo di tutti i tempi. Per i Giants è il quarto Super Bowl: l’ultimo lo avevano vinto nel 2007 proprio contro i Patriots, che quest’anno cercavano la rivincita ed erano dati per favoriti.
