Rick Perry si ritira

E annuncia il suo sostegno a Gingrich, a due giorni dalle primarie in South Carolina

Rick Perry ha annunciato la sospensione della sua campagna elettorale e il suo sostegno a Newt Gingrich. Perry, governatore del Texas, si era candidato lo scorso agosto ed era diventato subito il principale sfidante di Romney, prima che i suoi numeri si sgonfiassero molto. In Iowa aveva ottenuto un pessimo risultato, e aveva saltato le primarie in New Hampshire dicendo di volersi concentrare sul South Carolina, dove si vota dopodomani. Lunedì si era ritirato anche Jon Huntsman. I candidati rimasti in corsa quindi sono quattro: Mitt Romney, il favorito, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum e Ron Paul. In South Carolina i sondaggi vedono ancora Romney in vantaggio ma negli ultimi giorni Gingrich è dato in grande ascesa, e l’endorsement di Perry dovrebbe dargli ulteriore spinta. Stasera i candidati si confronteranno in un dibattito organizzato dalla CNN.
