Il Manchester City ha battuto 1-0 il Manchester United nel posticipo della Premier League, in quella che è stata forse la partita più importante dell’intera stagione di calcio inglese. Diciamo “forse” perché questo dipenderà in ultima istanza da quanto farà il City nelle prossime due partite del campionato, le ultime: se le vincerà, otterrà il titolo. Benché a pari punti, infatti, il City è in vantaggio per la differenza reti e gli scontri diretti. La partita è stata decisa da un gol di testa di Vincent Kompany, il capitano della squadra allenata da Roberto Mancini, che comunque ha dominato l’intera partita senza faticare, trovandosi di fronte uno United molto appannato. Il Manchester City non ha mai vinto la Premier League. Ha vinto due volte il massimo campionato di calcio inglese, nel 1936–37 e nel 1967–68. Giocherà le ultime due partite contro Newcastle e QPR.
