Le barriere di sabbia nei negozi di Beirut

Le hanno fatte i commercianti di una roccaforte di Hezbollah, nella capitale libanese, per proteggersi dall'esplosione delle autobombe

Negli ultimi tre mesi l’esplosione di una serie di autobombe in un quartiere sciita meridionale di Beirut, la capitale del Libano, ha cambiato alcuni modi di vivere dei residenti locali. Il quartiere si chiama Dahieh ed è una roccaforte di Hezbollah, il movimento libanese sciita che ha fatto per decenni della battaglia contro Israele il suo principale obiettivo politico. Dahieh è stato recentemente preso di mira con lo scopo di indebolire l’organizzazione anche alla luce del suo coinvolgimento diretto nella guerra in Siria, al fianco del presidente Bashar al-Assad. Una delle misure che sono state prese dai residenti per proteggersi da nuovi attentati è stato l’uso di sacchi di sabbia: molti negozianti del quartiere hanno costruito delle vere e proprie barricate di sacchi di sabbia dentro o fuori i propri negozi, sperando di attutire il colpo e limitare i danni nel caso di nuove esplosioni.
