Martedì 5 febbraio la World Photography Organization ha reso noto i finalisti del Sony World Photography Awards 2013, che dal 2007 è uno dei più importanti concorsi annuali nel settore della fotografia. Il premio riguarda foto scattate nel 2012 ed è composto da tre concorsi diversi, uno riservato ai professionisti, uno per i non professionisti e una categoria giovani per concorrenti sotto i 20 anni. In ciascuna competizione ci sono poi diverse categorie tematiche, come architettura, arte, ritratto, paesaggi e attualità.

All’edizione 2013 si sono iscritti 122.000 fotografi, professionisti e non, da 170 paesi diversi. I vincitori delle singole categorie nei concorsi Open e Giovani saranno annunciati il 19 marzo, mentre per il concorso professionisti l’annuncio sarà fatto il 25 aprile 2013.
