Alcune tempeste molto potenti hanno colpito il sud-est degli Stati Uniti negli ultimi tre giorni, uccidendo quaranta persone. Tra i luoghi più colpiti ci sono il North Carolina e il South Carolina: solo nella contea di Bertie County, in South Carolina, sono morte 14 persone. Altre nove sono morte in North Carolina, quattro in Virginia, sette in Alabama, due in Oklahoma, sette in Arkansas e uno in Mississippi. Negli ultimi tre giorni ben 230 tornado hanno colpito quella regione degli Stati Uniti. Il governatore della Virginia, Bob McDonnell, ha dichiarato ieri lo stato di emergenza. Il meteorologo della CNN ha definito “un evento epico” quanto sta accadendo in North Carolina. Oltre alle persone morte, si sono registrati vari danni alle case: come mostrano le foto, alcune abitazioni sono state letteralmente rase al suolo.
