L'ex presidente ivoriano è stato arrestato ieri dalle forze francesi e consegnato a Ouattara, che aveva vinto le elezioni

Ieri le forze speciali dell’esercito francese hanno arrestato il presidente uscente della Costa d’Avorio, Laurent Gbagbo, che da giorni era barricato nel palazzo presidenziale di Abidjan nonostante la sconfitta elettorale. Insieme a lui c’erano la moglie Simone e il figlio Michel. I francesi lo hanno consegnato alle forze di opposizione guidate dal presidente Alassane Ouattara, che lo hanno trasferito al loro quartier generale insieme alla moglie e al figlio. Il canale televisivo TCI, vicino alle posizioni di Ouattara, ha trasmesso alcune immagini dell’ex presidente, arrestato in canottiera e con un’atteggiamento arrendevole. Un soldato di Ouattara ha raccontato che un suo compagno l’avrebbe schiaffeggiato.

In serata il canale TCI ha trasmesso un messaggio in cui Gbagbo invita a mettere fine alle ostilità, così che il paese possa tornare al più presto alla normalità. Il presidente Ouattara si è impegnato a garantire l’incolumità a Gbagbo e alla sua famiglia, e ha annunciato l’apertura di una commissione che investigherà sulle accuse di atrocità nei confronti dei civili perpetrate dalle sue truppe e da quelle di Gbagbo durante gli ultimi mesi.
